Trying to calm down

I think I hadn’t quite realized how VP Ma’am interacts with students, or I would not have volunteered to work with her. We have an event on Wednesday (now Saturday) and the students are going to do choral recitation of a poem and she was also listening to the boy assigned to read the “Word of Thanks” at the end.

She is relentlessly critical. She makes no positive comments, only negative ones, and the whole attitude quickly becomes one of hopelessness. She never seems to be content. You are doing everything wrong, and nothing right, and when she is displeased, it feels very personal and really as though the individual has no value at all. It is not explicit, exactly. But she says, “You people…” a lot. “Useless” comes up frequently.

It is really hard to cope with and it is 1 and a half hours later, and I am still scared.

This is so sad. What a way to motivate and raise healthy children.

It is. There are a lot of times when I wonder what happened here. I wonder if an abusive boarding school system introduced by the Jesuits has disrupted families and created generations of trauma.
